City facilities have modified hours over the holidays

KITCHENER – City of Kitchener facilities and buildings have modified hours for the holidays as follows:

City hall

City hall offices will be closed on Monday, Dec. 26, and Tuesday, Dec. 27 for the statutory holidays. Offices will also be closed on Monday, Jan. 2 for the statutory new year holiday.

The building, however, will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.Dec. 24-27 and Jan. 1. On Dec. 31, for New Year’s Eve celebrations, the building will be open until about 12:30 a.m.

Kitchener Market

The Kitchener Market will be open for business as usual, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Saturday, Dec. 24 and 31. Regular business hours resume on Tuesday, Dec. 27 and, in the new year, on Tuesday, Jan. 3.

The Aud and arenas

The Aud box office hours during the holiday season are posted via www.theaud.ca/buytickets.

For public skating schedules, please check www.kitchener.ca/skatingschedule.

The Aud is open for a free New Year’s Day skate sponsored by Kitchener Utilities (10 a.m. to noon in the Kinsmen and Kiwanis Arena). The Aud is open for the Kitchener Rangers game at 2 p.m.

All community arenas are closed Dec. 25-26, and Jan. 1.

The outdoor rink in Carl Zehr Square at Kitchener City Hall is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. On Dec. 26, it is open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. On Dec. 31, it is open from 8 a.m. to midnight for New Year’s Eve.

Pools

All indoor pools are closed Dec. 24-26, Dec. 31 to Jan. 1.

Budd Park      

Budd Park will be closed Dec. 24 to Jan. 6, and will reopen for regular programming on Saturday, Jan. 7.

Community centres

All community centres are closed Dec. 24-27, Dec. 31 and Jan. 1, except for private rentals. The Downtown Community Centre is closed Dec. 24-29.

Kitchener Public Library

All Kitchener Public Library locations will close at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 24 and remain closed until Wednesday, Dec. 28. All locations will close again at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 31 and remain closed until Tuesday, Jan. 3.

Central Library will resume Sunday hours of operation on Jan. 8.

New Year’s Levee

City of Kitchener’s mayor and council invite you to drop by Kitchener City Hall on Jan. 8 from 1:30-4 p.m. to ring in the New Year. There will be light refreshments, face painting, balloons, skating on Carl Zehr Square and music by Tim Louis, jazz singer and pianist. Winners of the 2016 mayor’s City Builder Awards will also be announced at 1:35 p.m.
