City of Kitchener to host several Family Day events

Family Day events held at some city facilities


KITCHENER—Kitchener City Hall may be closed Monday, Feb. 20 to observe Family Day, but there are several facilities throughout the community that are ready to provide some fun, FREE and engaging activities for the whole family to enjoy!


Family Day events:


The Aud will be hosting three free skates on the Kinsmen and Kiwanis ice pads between 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Food and donations are being accepted for the Food Bank, and monetary donations for the Waterloo Walks for Autism Speaks. (Find details by visiting www.kitchener.ca/skatingschedule)


Bridgeport Community Centre will be hosting a skating party and/or indoor family activities from 2 - 4 p.m. There will be hot chocolate and cookies for everyone! (Outdoor activities are weather dependent)


Country Hills Community Centre will be hosting indoor family activities and a movie from 1 – 4 p.m. Indulge in the make-your-own hot chocolate bar to satisfy your sweet tooth while you visit.

Doon Pioneer Park Community Centre will be hosting a movie and pizza event from 5 – 7 p.m. *Registration is required; pick up your free tickets prior to event.

Downtown Community Centre The Victoria Park Neighbourhood Association invites all neighbours to get together at the Victoria Park Commons area for some activities, games and refreshments from 1 – 3 p.m.

Forest Heights Community Centre will be having an open house with various activities from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Bring your skates, enjoy some gym time, and enjoy hot chocolate and a cookie while you visit.

Kingsdale Community Centre is partnering up with Una Church to have a party from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Drop by for games and entertainment and enjoy some BBQ lunch.

Kitchener Market will host the 4-H club as they provide a cooking demonstration in the Marketplace! The theme for the day is ‘Everything Chocolate’ and will run from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Stanley Park Community Centre will be hosting two family swims at Lyle Hallman Pool from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m., and from 3 – 4 p.m. Families are invited to *register for a free swim, and stick around for crafts and refreshments happening from 12:30 – 4 p.m.

Williamsburg Community Centre will host some outdoor activities from 1 – 4 p.m. that will include snowshoeing among other outdoor fun, and hot chocolate, coffee and snacks will be provided, thanks to the Williamsburg Neighbourhood Association and Freedom in Christ Church.
