Kitchener – Beginning Aug. 13, the U19 Canadian Women’s Fastball Championship tournament kicks off in Kitchener. The tournament, which runs through Aug. 18, takes place at Peter Hallman Ball Yard, 220 Hayward Ave., and features the best women’s softball teams from across Canada.

KITCHENER – During routine maintenance on Tuesday, staff became aware of an issue with a sluice gate used to control water levels at Victoria Park Lake, resulting in falling water levels. The sluice gate is part of the weir structure located near the intersection of Roland and David Streets. Further investigation into the issue determined that the sluice gate had deteriorated and must be replaced.

KITCHENER – Offices at Kitchener City Hall will be closed on Monday, Aug. 5 for the Civic Holiday, but the building will remain open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Services normally offered by staff will be available again on Tuesday, Aug. 6 at 8:30 a.m.
