Kitchener Market Food Hall reopens for Saturday Farmers’ Market

Posted On Thursday July 30, 2020

As part of the City of Kitchener’s continued gradual reopening of city services, the Kitchener Market welcomes back some of its food hall vendors this Saturday, August 1. To mark the occasion, market shoppers can enjoy outdoor live music and ice cream treats that will be for sale along Eby St. in addition to so many great offerings from market vendors.

“We are excited to be able to bring back more members of our Market family,” says Cory Bluhm, Executive Director of Economic Development for the City of Kitchener. “Health and safety continue to be our number one priority during our reopening. We hope shoppers will continue to follow necessary safety measures but will also enjoy the inviting atmosphere that has made the Kitchener Market such a special place to visit over the years.”

The Food Hall will be open Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the same time as the weekly Farmers’ Market. Food will be available in a takeout format. Tables, chairs, and shade tents will be available outside and positioned two metres apart on the piazza in front of the building’s main entrance, as well as along a closed section of Eby St. Masks continue to be required in all areas of the Market.

“It’s great to see the Kitchener Market slowly and safely return to its place as a community hub, we all know and love,” said Kitchener Mayor Berry Vrbanovic. “The market and food hall vendors are small businesses and for many, the pandemic has brought on challenging times – we need to continue to find ways to support our local small businesses. I encourage you to visit this holiday weekend and again many times in the weeks ahead!”
