Kitchener Fire hopes you’ll continue to ‘Fill The Boot’ online for Muscular Dystrophy Canada

During a typical fall season, you might be used to seeing our local Kitchener Professional Fire Fighters Association out at locations asking you to ‘Fill The Boot’. This fall season has not been a typical one though. COVID restrictions have forced the association to put a hold on going out and collecting donations in person, but the needs of those already dealing with a disease like muscular dystrophy cannot be put on hold. Anyone can be affected by the more than 150 muscular dystrophy or related muscle diseases. The annual in-person collecting of coins and donations usually makes up a large portion of fundraising efforts to help provide support and resources to local individuals and their families when facing the realities of this group of diseases.

You can still support fundraising efforts by visiting the local ‘Fill The Boot’ online donation page.

Background:

Kitchener Fire has been a supporter of Muscular Dystrophy Canada for 50 years. To date over $372,000 has been raised to support those living with neuromuscular disorders and their families, over $107,000 of that has been collected through the annual ‘Fill the Boot’ drive. Funds are used to help purchase equipment and assistive devices, support groups, advocacy efforts and various other initiatives that support those affected.
