Kitchener's excellent telecommunications infrastructure matches or exceeds that available elsewhere in North America in terms of lines with digital switching capabilities and advanced signalling technology. Kitchener's network is 100% digital with an extensive fibre network throughout the city and downtown core. The fibre network features full disaster recovery.

Kitchener Waterloo is a world class area for developmental opportunities in education, technologies, computer and Internet delivery applications. In regards to education, the area is served by three universities and a community college. The University of Waterloo is a world leader in computer and technology research and education. Many technology and computer companies have evolved from research done at the University of Waterloo.
