City Employee Honoured with Provincial Award

Kitchener-- The City of Kitchener is pleased to announce that one of its employees has won the Ontario Association of Landscape Architects 2003 Public Practice Award. Brian Page, the City's landscape architect, was presented with the award at a luncheon following the Association's Annual General Meeting on Friday, March 21.

On behalf of Council, I would like to congratulate Brian on this honour, said Mayor Carl Zehr. It is a true reflection of the expertise and professionalism that he has demonstrated in his career.

The annual award recognizes the outstanding leadership of a member of the profession in public practice. Page, who has worked for the City for more than 25 years, received the award for his demonstrated leadership in the promotion of landscape architecture.

One of his most significant accomplishments was his recent coordination and co-authorship of the award-winning City of Kitchener Urban Design Manual. He was also responsible for the development of the first landscape guideline for site plan submissions at the City and coordinating the design guidelines for storm water management facilities now used by Kitchener, Cambridge, Waterloo and Guelph.

The Ontario Association of Landscape Architects is a professional organization dedicated to promoting, improving and advancing the profession of Landscape Architecture.
