Cycling Master Plan

Recent years have seen the local interest in cycling increase dramatically. The interest comes both from citizens seeking a healthier lifestyle and from planners and analysts seeking solutions to organizational, environmental and transit issues in a rapidly growing population.

The City of Kitchener is developing a Cycling Master Plan with the ultimate goal of creating policies, programs, design standards and infrastructure that support and promote both recreational and commuter cycling.

In 1998, the City of Kitchener developed a document entitled the Kitchener Bikeway Study PDF, providing a preliminary framework for developing local cycling. With the recent establishment of a City of Kitchener Cycling Advisory Committee, this is the ideal time to create a Cycling Master Plan using the 1998 Study as a starting point.

If you cycle, or would with improved cycling access, here is your chance to provide input on bike routes, facilities and trail connections. Plan on attending one of two scheduled information sessions:
