Community Plans
Community Plans are prepared for large areas undergoing new development and are intended to facilitate and coordinate decisions regarding location of facilities, transportation networks, subdivision of land, distribution of densities, protection of the natural environment and timing and staging of growth. Community Plans have no legal status under the Planning Act, however, they must conform to both the City of Kitchener Municipal Plan and the Regional Plan. They are adopted by resolution of the Kitchener City Council and are also subject to the approval of Regional Council when they are deemed to affect matters of Provincial or Regional significance. Community Plans will be repealed by resolution of City Council once the areas affected by these Plans are substantially completed.
