Mayor’s Advisory Council for Kitchener Seniors (MACKS)
The Mayor’s Advisory Council for Kitchener Seniors (MACKS) is a committee of the City’s Community Services Department.
Established to provide a link for Kitchener seniors to the Mayor and Council, the first MACKS meeting was held on March 30, 1987. Monthly meeting provide opportunities to share information and work collectively on senior’s projects.

Mission Statement
To provide a representative voice for adults 50+ in the Kitchener community. To advise City Council and staff on issues related to adults 50+ in our community. To link with local, provincial and national senior organizations, and to promote the positive image of adults 50 years and older in our community and recognize their contributions by organizing the Salute to Seniors annual event.

Enhance the quality of life of seniors by providing a representative voice for seniors across the Kitchener community. |

To advise City staff and City Council on issues related to seniors’ in our community and the senior citizen programs provided and/or supported by the City of Kitchener and to present Council directly on any major issues with the support of city staff. |

To link with local, provincial and national senior organizations. |
|
To promote the positive image of seniors in our community and recognize their contributions through the Salute to Seniors annual event. |

Membership
The Executive Committee is composed of the officers of MACKS and one City staff person, and acts on behalf of the Council between Council meetings. External liaisons to MACKS include the City of Kitchener Community Services Department Staff, community agency liaisons as required, OACAO representation, and City of Waterloo representation.
Six members of MACKS report to their respective centre advisory councils (Rockway Centre, Breithaupt Centre and Downtown Community Centre).
Community relations occur via direct communication between centre representatives, in addition to representatives in the areas of health, arts and culture and education and technology and multiculture.

Meeting Times
Meeting on the third Monday of every month, adjourning for the months on July and August and reconvening in September. All meetings are open, however, the chairperson should be notified to accommodate any presentations or guest speakers wishing to attend.
