The City of Kitchener offers full day summer camp programs at the Breithaupt Centre for children ages 4 to 13. Kids Crafts & Games for JK to grade 1, Kids in Motion for grades 1 - 3, Camp Eco for grades 2-6 and Sports Camp for grades 4-7. We are also pleased to offer extended supervision times at no extra cost. All programs include on-site swimming. Children should bring a bathing suit and towel each day. Children must have completed the minimum grade level before the first day of camp.

The Cities of Kitchener and Waterloo are committed to making their programs and leisure activities available to people with a disability or a special need.  If your child has a disability or special need and requires accommodation to participate in summer programs, assistance may be available through Inclusion Services.

There are also other Summer Camp & Recreation Programs taking place in the Waterloo Region and Surrounding Areas. Download the 2010 Catalogue [coming soon] for more information.

Camp Readiness

In order to support the success and safety of all individuals registered and participating in City of Kitchener and City of Waterloo day camps, playgrounds and fun centres, it is important that participants attending these programs are indeed “Camp Ready”.

To assist in determining if a participant is “Camp Ready”, the following criteria has been developed:

  • Participant is able to take direction and instruction from a staff person
  • Participant is comfortable in and able to interact in a group environment
  • Participant is able to participate in the camp program
  • School-aged participants are able to attend school successfully
  • Participant interacts and participates in camp in a manner that is safe for themselves and others

Participants that are attending camp and who are not demonstrating that they are “Camp Ready” may be withdrawn from the program at the sole discretion of full-time supervisory staff. If you require further information, please contact 519-741-2229.

Some participants may require additional support to assist them in being successful at camp. Inclusion Services is available to discuss accommodation needs and support options for your child. The Inclusion Coordinator can be reached at 519-741-2229. Inclusion Services offers additional support, however, all participants need to be “Camp Ready”.

Our goal is your child’s safety and success!
