Kitchener's
award winning City Hall opened in September 1993. Designed by Canadian
architect Bruce Kuwabara of the Toronto firm Kuwabara, Payne, McKenna
and Blumberg, the facility was awarded the Governor General Gold Medal
for Architecture for excellence in architecture design in 1994. It includes
municipal and government offices, public meeting rooms, a three storey
rotunda suitable for large events, Williams Coffee Pub, a public art gallery,
a reflecting pool in Civic Square which doubles as a skating rink in winter,
and the Reflecting Studio, home of the city's summertime artist-in-residence.
Convenient indoor parking is available at reasonable rates inside City
Hall. Parking garage access is located on Young Street.
