Bloom

Kitchener in Bloom

Each year the City of Kitchener along with community partners encourages residents and businesses to take pride in Kitchener and beautify our community through the Kitchener in Bloom which includes three components:

Residential Front Yard Bloom Award recognizes residents who help make our community a beautiful place. All nominated properties will receive a certificate recognizing their contribution to making Kitchener beautiful. This year, over 60 properties will receive a special bloom award. Properties owners will be invited to a Kitchener in Bloom celebration in September.

Congratulations to the 2009 residential property Bloom Award selections.

Environmental Recognition Award program recognizes those that practice environmental solutions while maintaining beautiful lawns and gardens.
With the reality of water conservation and pesticide by-laws some residents question how it’s possible to have a beautiful garden and still follow watering restrictions and environmental practices. The award recognizes the use of drought resistant plant material, native plant species and compliance with watering restrictions and pesticide free lawns and gardens.
This year, special environmental recognition will be given to deserving properties at the September finale.

Business Award program honours businesses that make a contribution to the visual quality of Kitchener through the beauty of their property. There are three categories in which businesses can be nominated:

  • Large Scale Business (road view frontage larger than 5000 sq. ft.)  – includes neighbourhood retail, community or regional chopping centres, Big Box retail, office buildings and corporate developments, hotels, and industrial properties.

  • Small Scale Business (road view frontage up to 5000 sq. ft.) – includes small frontage locations of individual retail or commercial service properties such as retail stores, shops, restaurants, taverns, service stations and small offices.

  • Multi-residential - townhouse, condominium or apartment developments (more than three units), private nursing homes or residential care facilities.

Note: Government properties and Places of Worship are not eligible.
Congratulations to the 2009 Business Award selections.

A winning property
