Active Kitchener

Active Kitchener

We put the act in active.

The City of Kitchener’s athletic and aquatics divisions can help you do it, too.
Inspired by the Province of Ontario’s ACTIVE2010 campaign, Active Kitchener is designed to get Kitchener residents involved, and to stay involved, in sport and physical activity.

We want Kitchener residents inspired to take up a sport or to do more physical activity.

If you skate or jog or play on a sports team, you are exercising.

If you dance or walk, you’re doing physical activity.

Sport and physical activity can be individual or team-directed, can be as simple as skipping or may include cultural activities such as dancing, or personal transportation such as cycling or walking to work.

But it’s about more than physical fitness. It’s about new friends and new opportunities.

So what’s holding you back?

There are easy and affordable ways to get involved in physical activity and sport and to stay involved.

Try it. You might like it.

Look for Active Kitchener events throughout the year.

What is Active 2010?

It is a comprehensive strategy to increase participation in sport and physical activity throughout Ontario. The goals are:

  • Creating opportunities to become involved in quality sport activities.
  • Enhancing opportunities to participate in daily physical activity.
  • Increasing the number of Ontarians who value and believe participation in sport and physical activity is an integral and essential part of life in our province.

How is the City of Kitchener involved?

The City of Kitchener is supporting Active 2010. We will be introducing new programs, highlighting existing programs and resources that can be used in our community to stay active.

We want to encourage involvement in physical activity and sport in Kitchener beyond 2010. We want to tell people what programs are available, and which ones are new and exciting.

Look for the Active Kitchener logo when you join a sports team or take swimming lessons, or participate in any City of Kitchener athletics or aquatics activity, or city-run program.
